The Art of Film Honoring Robert Benton
This year, the Dallas Film Society presents its annual fundraising gala, The Art of Film, immediately preceding the Festival. There’s no doubt this signature event will kick-off Dallas’ largest celebration of film with a bang.
The Film Society will honor three-time Academy Award-winner Robert Benton at the event occurring Wednesday, March 29 at sixtyfivehundred. We invite you to join us in welcoming this legend as we present him with the Dallas Star Award.
A native Texan. born in Waxahachie, and veteran, Benton’s first full screenplay (written with David Newman) was the 1967 classic BONNIE & CLYDE. That success led to writing the scripts for WHAT’S UP DOC, the Christopher Reeve classic SUPERMAN, and KRAMER VS. KRAMER—for which he won Oscars for Best Director and Best Screenplay. He earned a 3rd Oscar for his screenplay for PLACES IN THE HEART filmed in and around Dallas and Waxahachie.
The Art of Film begins with cocktails and appetizers before Dallas’ own Gary Cogill and Mr. Benton take the Stage for an entertaining and insightful conversation.
We invite you to join Event Chairs Regina Montoya and Paul Coggins and Honorary Chairs Kathryn and Craig Hall as we welcome this legend and present him with the Dallas Star Award.
Tickets and tables (from $500 and up) are available online or by calling the Dallas Film Society Offices at 214.720.0555.
